HR7: HR7 George C. Trulock, Jr. Memorial Highway; Grady County; dedicate

This resolution does not change any law but formally names specific pieces of Georgia's state highway system after people the General Assembly wants to honor. It contains eighteen tribute sections (called Parts), each telling the life story of a Georgian, ranging from law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty to business leaders, a former state senator, a longtime county clerk, and entertainers Tyler Perry and Jeff Foxworthy. After the tributes, the resolution's operative section formally dedicates named road segments, bridges, interchanges, and intersections in counties such as Grady, Madison, DeKalb, Crisp, Douglas, Catoosa, Coweta, Fulton, Peach, Camden, Lumpkin, Chattooga, Greene, Oconee, and Clayton. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to install and maintain signs marking each dedication, and directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to the honorees or their families.

• Dedicates the stretch of State Route 38/Highway 84 through Whigham in Grady County as the George C. Trulock, Jr. Memorial Highway.
• Dedicates seventeen other specific highway segments, bridges, interchanges, and intersections across Georgia counties in honor of named individuals.
• Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking each of the newly dedicated road facilities.
• Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to the Department of Transportation, living honorees, and the families of deceased honorees.
• Creates no new taxes, funding, penalties, or ongoing legal requirements; it only assigns commemorative names to existing roads.

The Georgia Department of Transportation, which must post and maintain new signage, and the named honorees or their families, who receive formal recognition. Residents and travelers in Grady, Madison, DeKalb, Crisp, Douglas, Catoosa, Coweta, Fulton, Peach, Camden, Lumpkin, Chattooga, Greene, Oconee, and Clayton counties will see the new highway and bridge names.

While the resolution changes no substantive law, it results in physical signage changes on roads Georgians drive every day, and it gives lasting public recognition to law enforcement officers killed on duty, public servants, business figures, and entertainers connected to Georgia.

• Parts I through XVIII contain the biographical tributes explaining why each person is being honored, including several peace officers killed in the line of duty.
• The enacting section dedicates the Grady County segment of State Route 38/Highway 84 as the George C. Trulock, Jr. Memorial Highway.
• Additional 'BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND ENACTED' clauses dedicate a bridge in Madison County, a parkway in DeKalb County, interchanges in Crisp and Douglas counties, and highway segments in Fulton, Peach, Camden, Lumpkin, Chattooga, Greene, Oconee, and Clayton counties.
• The Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs for each dedicated facility.
• The Clerk of the House is directed to distribute copies of the resolution to the Department of Transportation, the living honorees, and the families of deceased honorees.
