25 LC 129 0004 House Resolution 14 By: Representative Williamson of the 112th A RESOLUTION Commending and congratulating Thomas Elliot Butler; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Thomas Elliot Butler has attained the rank of Eagle Sc out, the most2 distinguished rank conferred by the Boy Scouts of America; and3 WHEREAS, a candidate for the most exceptional award in scouting must complete a4 rigorous program of training and demonstrate his proficiency in selected scouting techniques5 and the attainment of the highest ideals of scouting; and6 WHEREAS, only one scout out of 97 ever reaches this lofty level of achievement, and7 Thomas has ably evidenced his aptitude and competency in master ing the various special8 skills taught through the Scouts BSA program; and9 WHEREAS, Thomas has demonstrated his great leadership skills an d dedication to the10 Scouts by serving as senior patrol leader, assistant patrol lea der, patrol leader, and troop11 guide as well as earning 21 Merit Badges; and12 H. R. 14 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0004 WHEREAS, an outstanding Georgian, he has truly exhibited a commitment to the scouting13 principles of honesty and fairness and has consistently conduct ed himself in a manner14 becoming of an Eagle Scout; and15 WHEREAS, a member of Troop 705, Thomas earned the rank of Eagle Scout by leading a16 playground and church revitalization project at Monroe First Methodist, demonstrating his17 leadership abilities and commitment to enhancing the community; and18 WHEREAS, the perseverance and determination displayed by this exceptional young leader19 set an example for all Georgians, and great success is surely in this young man's future.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body commend Thomas Elliot Butler for his d iligence and dedication22 in pursuing the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate him23 on attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to26 Thomas Elliot Butler. 27 H.
