A RESOLUTION
Commending the Atlanta Football Host Committee for hosting the 2025 College Football1
Playoff National Championship; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, in August 2022, Atlanta, Georgia, was selected as the host of the 2025 College3
Football Playoff National Championship; and4
WHEREAS, Atlanta, Georgia, previously hosted the College Footba ll Playoff National5
Championship in 2018 and was selected as the first city to serv e as a repeat host of the6
College Football Playoff National Championship; and7
WHEREAS, in 2018, the Atlanta Football Host Committee welcomed over 125,000 guests8
to the Championship Campus in downtown Atlanta, earned the highest TV rating on record9
for a college football game on ESPN, and hosted the first presi dential visit to a college10
football championship since 1980; and11
WHEREAS, The Atlanta Sports Council spearheaded the bid to host the 2025 College12
Football Playoff National Championship alongside its partners in the community, including13
the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Arthur M. Blank Sports and Entertainment, the14

City of Atlanta, Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the15
State of Georgia; and16
WHEREAS, the Georgia General Assem bly and Governor Brian Kem p have supported17
Georgia's ability to host major sporting events with the extension of the sales tax exemption18
on tickets for major sporting events and a $4.75 million approp riation to facilitate public19
safety and infrastructure costs for the College Football Playoff National Championship; and 20
WHEREAS, the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship will be hosted at the21
world-class Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the host of the 2018 College Football Playoff 22
Championship, the first LEED platinum-certified stadium to host a College Football Playoff23
National Championship, and the future host of multiple major sporting events, including the24
FIFA World Cup 2026 and Super Bowl 62; and25
WHEREAS, over 600 volunteers from across the State of Georgia have stepped forward to26
serve as the first impression for visitors and express our first-class hospitality for guests all27
across the championship campus; and 28
WHEREAS, the Atlanta Football Host Committee and College Football Playoff Foundation29
have heavily invested in Georgia's communities with the creation of the Georgia Teachers30
Initiative, which has engaged with over 40,000 teachers across the whole state and funded31
teacher projects in all 159 counties; and32
WHEREAS, the economic impact of hosting the College Football Pl ayoff National33
Championship to the State of Georgia will be $75 million for Georgia's restaurants, hotels,34
vendors, and additional hospitality businesses.35

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body36
commend the Atlanta Football Host Committee for serving as the first repeat host city of the37
College Football Playoff National Championship and welcome the national championship38
game back to Atlanta, Georgia.39
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed40
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Atlanta Football41
Host Committee and other parties.42
