25 LC 112 2656 Senate Resolution 10 By: Senators Anavitarte of the 31st, Albers of the 56th, Summers of the 13th, Hodges of the 3rd, Hufstetler of the 52nd and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Major Clint Morris and Captain Dee M orris upon their1 retirement; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Major Clint Morris and Captain Dee Morris have long been recognized by the3 citizens of Georgia for the vital roles they have played in law enforcement and their deep4 personal commitment to the safety and welfare of the citizens of Paulding County, Georgia;5 and6 WHEREAS, the careers of Major Clint Morris and Captain Dee Morris spanned a combined7 total of nearly seven decades, during which they worked with three sheriffs and rose through8 the ranks in multiple divisions, including Captain Morris becoming the Assistant Commander9 of the Juvenile Division and Major Morris becoming the Commande r of the Courthouse10 Security Division; and11 WHEREAS, as the Commander of the Uniform Patrol Division, Major Clint Morris played12 a key role in implementing speed detection devices and improving policies and equipment13 procurement within the division; and14 S. R. 10 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2656 WHEREAS, Major Clint Morris further served in the Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigations15 Division, SWAT Team, Training Division, and Uniform Patrol Division, where he earned16 the Officer of the Year Award in 2001 as well as the Purple Hea rt and Medal of Valor in17 2000; and18 WHEREAS, Captain Dee Morris served in the Narcotics Unit, Crimi nal Investigations19 Division, Jail Division, Juvenile Division, and Crimes Against Children Division during her20 distinguished tenure, earning the Officer of the Year Award in 2008; and21 WHEREAS, in 1995, Captain Dee Morris co-founded the Paulding Co unty CASA (Court22 Appointed Special Advocate) program to support youth with diffi cult home lives, and she23 later helped create the Family Alliance of Paulding to provide multiple services to youth,24 including a visitation center for children in foster care; and25 WHEREAS, Captain Dee Morris was further instrumental in develop ing the Junior Law26 Enforcement Academy and professionalizing the Juvenile Division's processes and training;27 and28 WHEREAS, Major Clint Morris and Captain Dee Morris have served with honor and29 distinction, and their vision and unyielding commitment to excellence in law enforcement30 will be sorely missed; and31 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that these remarka ble Georgians be32 appropriately honored during this special time.33 S. R. 10 - 2 - 25 LC 112 2656 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body34 recognize and commend Major Clint Morris and Captain Dee Morris for their efficient,35 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate them36 upon the grand occasion of their retirement; and extend the mos t sincere best wishes for37 continued health and happiness.38 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed39 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Major Clint Morris40 and Captain Dee Morris.41 S.
