25 LC 129 0012 House Resolution 16 By: Representatives Wade of the 9th, Cox of the 28th, Dubnik of the 29th, Chastain of the 7th, Bonner of the 73rd, and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating and honoring William Edwards; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, William Edwards, a junior at the University of North Georgia (UNG), has been2 named the university's presidential fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and3 Congress (CSPC) for the 2024-2025 academic year, a prestigious program that includes4 monthly seminars and a multi-day leadership conference in Washington, D.C.; and5 WHEREAS, Edwards, a cadet major in the UNG Boar's Head Brigade and Brigade S-4, is6 pursing a degree in history with a perfect 4.0 GPA; and7 WHEREAS, Edwards' selection for the CSPC fellowship reflects his commitment to studying8 the public policymaking process and fostering a deeper understa nding of the presidency,9 Congress, and their roles in addressing national changes; and10 WHEREAS, Edwards has achieved notable academic and military acc omplishments,11 including earning an Army ROTC Scholarship, graduating from the Army Air Assault12 School at Fort Moore and the Cadet Basic Leadership Course (CBL C), and serving as13 commander of the Range Challenge Gold Team; and14 H. R. 16 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0012 WHEREAS, Edwards has demonstrated consistent academic excellence, earning a place on15 the UNG President's List every semester since Fall 2022, and he has further expanded his16 education through participation in the UNG Aviation Ground School and the United States17 Army Project GO Scholarship for studying Russian at the Strategic Language Institute; and18 WHEREAS, Edwards, a resident of Dahlonega, Georgia, exemplifies leadership, scholarship,19 and service in his roles as a cadet, student, and active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha20 Fraternity; and21 WHEREAS, Edwards will culminate his CSPC fellowship experience by authoring a22 research paper that integrates his insights and learning; and23 WHEREAS, Edwards credits the University of North Georgia with providing him confidence24 and a platform to make a meaningful difference in his community and beyond.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body congratulate and honor William Edwards upon being named the27 presidential fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presiden cy and Congress as well as28 extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appr opriate copy of t his resolution ava ilable for distribution to31 William Edwards.32 H.
