25 LC 129 0026 Senate Resolution 20 By: Senators Hickman of the 4th, Kennedy of the 18th, Gooch of the 51st, Tillery of the 19th and Anavitarte of the 31st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Honorable F. Gates Peed; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Honorable F. Gates Peed has been an active and outstanding member of the2 Georgia State Bar for 42 years; and3 WHEREAS, the Honorable F. Gates Peed has served as a member of the bench for the4 municipalities of the Town of Oliver and the Town of Newington, the County of Bulloch,5 and the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit Superior Court, assuming the position of Chief Judge in6 2018; and7 WHEREAS, the Honorable F. Gates Peed has served the Ogeechee Ju dicial Circuit in an8 exemplary manner for 24 years, leading the judicial circuit thr ough the unprecedented9 disruptions of the courts from COVID-19 and the nonstop challenges and demands caused10 by the unparallel population growth of the counties within the circuit; and11 WHEREAS, at the end of 2024, the Honorable F. Gates Peed retired from the bench, leaving12 with a reputation for integrity and dedication to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, members of13 the bar, and the citizens of the State of Georgia.14 S. R. 20 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0026 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body15 recognize and commend the Honorable F. Gates Peed for his efficient, effective, unselfish,16 and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratul ate him upon the grand17 occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and18 happiness.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed20 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Honorable F.21 Gates Peed.22 S.
