25 LC 112 2703 House Resolution 49 By: Representatives Sanchez of the 42nd, Cannon of the 58th, Romman of the 97th, Bell of the 75th, Park of the 107th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing January 18, 2025, as Manuel Estevan Paez Teran Day; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Manuel Estevan Paez Teran was a passionate environment alist who was2 committed to their advocacy for nature and envisioned a more ju st world that cared for3 people and the environment; and4 WHEREAS, Manuel Teran lived a life dedicated to that vision, working tirelessly to protect5 forests and nature; and6 WHEREAS, on January 18, 2023, Manuel Teran was killed in Atlant a while peacefully7 protesting for the environment; and8 WHEREAS, on January 18, 2025, fam ily, friends, and supporters will gather to honor the9 second anniversary of their passing; and10 WHEREAS, we must honor the life of Manuel Teran and support the environmentalists who11 continue this important work; and12 H. R. 49 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2703 WHEREAS, we must continue Manuel Teran's legacy of fighting for justice, peace, and the13 preservation of our environment, which is essential for life on Earth.14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that15 the members of this body recognize January 18, 2025, as Manuel Estevan Paez Teran Day16 in honor of their life's work to protect our environment and build a better future for all.17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized18 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the19 public and the press.20 H.
