25 LC 129 0019 Senate Resolution 33 By: Senators Merritt of the 9th, Rahman of the 5th, Islam Parkes of the 7th, Still of the 48th, Dixon of the 45th and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Brookwood High School girls swimming and diving team for winning the1 2023-2024 GHSA Class 7A State Swimming and Diving Championship; and for other2 purposes.3 WHEREAS, the Brookwood High School girls swimming and diving team has established4 and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal empha ses on character and5 academics; and6 WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school by winning the 2023-20247 GHSA Class 7A State Swimming and Diving Championship with a collective 493.5 points;8 and9 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding10 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the11 team as well as the astute direction of Head Coach Willie Hildebrand; and12 WHEREAS, this victory would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the13 entire team, whose accomplishments included state titles in the 100-yard backstroke, the14 diving competition, and both the 200 medley and the 200 freestyle relay; and15 S. R. 33 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0019 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by16 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is17 abundantly proper to call them champions.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19 congratulate the Brookwood High School girls swimming and diving team for winning the20 2023-2024 GHSA Class 7A State Swimming and Diving Championship and extend best21 wishes for their continued success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Brookwood24 High School girls swimming and diving team.25 S.
