HR61: HR61 AHIMSA-End Gun Violence; commend

25 LC 129 0043 House Resolution 61 By: Representatives Au of the 50th, Tran of the 80th, Park of the 107th, Lim of the 98th, and Romman of the 97th A RESOLUTION Commending AHIMSA-End Gun Violence; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, AHIMSA-End Gun Violence was founded on April 18, 2023, by Dr. Amod2 Sureka, Dr. Shailendra Palvia, and Ms. Vaisheshi Jalajam; and3 WHEREAS, "Ahimsa," the organization's namesake, is the ancient Indian principle of4 nonviolence and is a key virtue for a number of Indian religions; and5 WHEREAS, based on the principle of Ahimsa, this remarkable organization advocates for6 gun violence prevention through legislative action and student mentorship; and7 WHEREAS, AHIMSA-End Gun Violence holds five-day, 40-hour classe s for students8 interested in gun violence prevention advocacy; and9 WHEREAS, AHIMSA-End Gun Violence is preparing future generation s to be well10 informed, effective advocates; and11 H. R. 61 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0043 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this12 extraordinary organization be appropriately recognized.13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that14 the members of this body commend AHIMSA-End Gun Violence for th eir student15 mentorship and advocacy as well as extend best wishes for its future success. 16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized17 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to18 AHIMSA-End Gun Violence. 19 H.
