25 LC 112 2711 Senate Resolution 50 By: Senators Sims of the 12th, Davenport of the 17th, Jackson o f the 41st, Halpern of the 39th, Jones II of the 22nd and others A RESOLUTION Commending the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers (GYST C) as well as the1 2025 Don Cargill STEM Scholars for their innovative and integra ted teaching of science,2 technology, engineering, and mathematics in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms;3 and for other purposes.4 WHEREAS, GYSTC is headquartered at Kennesaw State University wi th ten additional5 program sites across the state; and6 WHEREAS, GYSTC was founded in April 1989 to promote interest an d enthusiasm in7 STEM; and8 WHEREAS, GYSTC works to improve the teaching and learning proce ss by enhancing9 teaching methods and content knowledge; and10 WHEREAS, GYSTC encourages students to pursue STEM careers; and11 WHEREAS, GYSTC works to provide a greater and better-qualified workforce for Georgia's12 industries in the rural and underserved regions of the state; and13 S. R. 50 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2711 WHEREAS, GYSTC's is committed to professional learning for and recognition of teachers'14 innovative work to improve students' learning; and15 WHEREAS, with better quality teachers and higher student achievement, GYSTC will help16 to broaden the pipeline of science, technology, engineering, an d mathematics majors for17 Georgia's workforce.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19 commend the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers (GYSTC) for their work,20 dedication, and devoted service to all teachers of Georgia and especially the 2025 Don21 Cargill STEM Scholars who demonstrate innovation and hard work in their classrooms.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Youth24 Science & Technology Centers.25 S.
