25 LC 129 0042 House Resolution 64 By: Representatives Au of the 50th, Tran of the 80th, Park of the 107th, Lim of the 98th, and Hong of the 103rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu's lion dance performa nce at the Georgia2 state capitol in 2024 represents the beginning of an annual tradition of celebrating the ancient3 art form; and4 WHEREAS, the lion dance is a traditional dance form in Chinese and other Asian cultures5 meant to bring good luck and fortune; and6 WHEREAS, this remarkable troupe is led by Shifu Gary Mitchell, who began his martial arts7 training in the early 1980s and has more than 40 years of Chinese martial arts experience; and8 WHEREAS, the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu will be returning in 2025 to join in the9 capitol's second annual Lunar New Year celebration; and10 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize this outstanding organization for11 its commitment to the continuation of this ancient art from.12 H. R. 64 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0042 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that13 the members of this body recognize and commend the Chien Hong School of Kong Fu for14 being the first lion dance troupe to ever perform at the Georgia state capitol and extend best15 wishes for continued success.16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized17 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the18 Chien Hong School of Kong Fu.19 H.
