A RESOLUTION
Commending the Georgia Young Farmer Teacher Program; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the Georgia Young Farmer Teacher Program (GYFT) provid es systematic2
agricultural education for individuals actively engaged in farming or agricultural endeavors;3
and4
WHEREAS, the program operates under the direction of the State Department of Education5
and local agriculture departments in public high schools, with instruction planned jointly by6
Young Farmer Teachers and participants; and7
WHEREAS, the GYFT was established in 1951 as an instructional initiative coordinated by8
full-time Young Farmer Teachers and expanded in 1971 with the organization of the Georgia9
Young Farmers Association to provide state-level coordination and leadership activities; and10
WHEREAS, the GYFT is intended to meet the educational needs of all who have a vested11
interest in agriculture and seek to continue educational training; and12
WHEREAS, the GYFT's mission is to provide educational, leadersh ip, and networking13
opportunities to agriculture education students and adults interested in agriculture, assisting14

them in achieving their personal goals and creating a more viable and sustainable agriculture15
industry in Georgia; and16
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this17
extraordinary organization be appropriately recognized.18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19
commend the Georgia Young Farmer Teacher Program and extend bes t wishes for future20
growth and success.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Young23
Farmer Teacher Program.24
