25 LC 112 2759 Senate Resolution 66 By: Senators McLaurin of the 14th, Brass of the 6th, Williams of the 25th, Kemp of the 38th, Payne of the 54th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing Hemophilia of Georgia; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a nationally and internationally recognized nonprofit2 based in Sandy Springs that provides services and support to Ge orgians who have3 hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and other inherited bleeding disorders; and4 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia began its work in 1973; and5 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia continues to meet its goal to he lp those who have6 bleeding disorders live as normally and productively as possible; and7 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia also serves as a member of the W orld Federation of8 Hemophilia, enhancing the health and wellness of the bleeding d isorder community by9 providing comprehensive health care, education, advocacy, and support of research; and10 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is in receipt of six-star status by the National11 Hemophilia Foundation and is recognized as a Chapter of Excellence; and12 S. R. 66 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2759 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia employs numerous professionals, including13 pharmacists, nurses, and social workers, to provide critical services to its clients; and14 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia provides specialized pharmacy se rvices, outreach15 nursing services, social support services, clinic and research funding, information,16 educational services, and activities and programs to enhance ca re and quality of life for17 people with bleeding disorders and their families; and18 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia's specialty pharmacies have dual accreditation from the19 Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Incorporated (ACHC) a nd the Utilization20 Review Accreditation Commission, Incorporated (URAC), demonstrating a commitment to21 high-quality standards of care; and22 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia provides children with inherited bleeding disorders the23 ability to live more normal lives, including opportunities to a ttend summer camp at Camp24 Wannaklot; and25 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia publishes an award-winning newsletter for its clients26 and their families to educate them on advances in treatment; pr oduces Protocols for the27 Treatment of Hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease for physicians and other health care28 providers; offers financial support for hemophilia treatment centers throughout Georgia to29 ensure that they are fully staffed and equipped; and invests in critical research for inherited30 bleeding disorders and their associated complications; and31 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia partners with many entities, inc luding St. Jude32 Children's Research Hospital and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Dis orders Center at Emory33 S. R. 66 - 2 - 25 LC 112 2759 University, for research to find a cure for hemophilia and to help end the bleeding disorders34 affecting citizens; and 35 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a trusted resource to many health care providers and36 insurers providing training on bleeding disorders, including appropriate care and treatment.37 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body38 extend a warm greeting to Hemophilia of Georgia, its staff and volunteers, and the persons39 that the organization serves and convey to them this legislativ e body's heartiest40 commendation for their work on behalf of those individuals with hemophilia and other41 inherited bleeding disorders in this state, throughout our nation, and around the world.42 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed43 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Hemophilia of44 Georgia.45 S.
