25 SR 67/FA Senate Resolution 67 By: Senators Halpern of the 39th, Esteves of the 35th, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Rhett of the 33rd, Merritt of the 9th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day at the state capitol; and for other1 purposes.2 WHEREAS, arts and culture embody much of the accumulated wisdom , intellect, and3 imagination of humankind; and4 WHEREAS, arts and culture improve the overall quality of life in Georgia's communities;5 and6 WHEREAS, Georgians recognize the arts and culture industry as an important pillar and a7 source of pride in their neighborhoods and communities; and8 WHEREAS, towns, cities, and counties, through their local and s tate arts agencies and9 councils representing thousands of arts and cultural organizati ons, celebrate the value and10 importance of arts and culture in the lives of Georgians and th e health of thriving11 communities during Georgia Arts Day; and12 WHEREAS, through organizational spending and the resulting economic impact, the arts and13 culture industry generated $1.3 billion in 2022, supporting 19,734 Georgia jobs; and14 S. R. 67 - 1 - 25 SR 67/FA WHEREAS, an overwhelming number of visitors to Georgia report t hat their reason for15 visiting was to a ttend performances, events, exhibits, venues, and arts and culture-related16 facilities; and17 WHEREAS, the arts and culture industry serves as a catalyst for generating economic18 impact, stimulating business development, spurring urban renewa l, attracting tourists and19 area residents to community activities, and improving the overall quality of life in Georgia's20 cities.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22 recognize February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day at the state ca pitol and encourage23 communities throughout the state to celebrate and promote the arts and culture.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the26 press. 27 S.
