25 LC 112 2784 Senate Resolution 73 By: Senators Williams of the 25th, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Burns of the 23rd, Strickland of the 42nd, Anderson of the 24th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association is a p rofessional3 organization that supports speech-language pathologists (SLPs), audiologists, and speech,4 language, and hearing scientists in the State of Georgia and works to advance the interests5 of those professions and the public through education, mentoring, advocacy, resources, and6 service to ensure communication for all; and7 WHEREAS, many Georgians have communication disorders, language impairment or8 hearing disorders, or swallowing and feeding disorders; and9 WHEREAS, many of these disorders are caused by various things s uch as genetics, age,10 injury, disease and illness, and noise exposure; and11 WHEREAS, SLPs and audiologists are among the health care profes sionals providing12 hearing screenings, evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, and man agement for these hearing13 losses as well as communication and swallowing disorders; and14 S. R. 73 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2784 WHEREAS, many of the professionals of the Georgia Speech-Langua ge-Hearing15 Association serve Georgia's most vulnerable through the Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, and16 Babies Can't Wait programs; and17 WHEREAS, the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association's memb ers are licensed18 professionals, many of whom hold advanced degrees from accredit ed universities with19 special training programs; and20 WHEREAS, the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association's members may be found21 providing services in various settings, including hospitals, nu rsing homes, rehabilitation22 centers, clinics, physicians' offices, private practices, client homes, pre-K through grade 1223 schools, universities, and government and military practices; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25 distinguished organization be appropriately honored for the hea lth care and educational26 services its members provide to Georgia's citizens.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 recognize and commend the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association and its members29 for their many years of tireless, efficient, effective, and dedicated service to the citizens of30 this state as well as extend best wishes for continued success.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Georgia33 Speech-Language-Hearing Association.34 S.
