25 LC 44 2896 House Bill 201 By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Hagan of the 156th, Huddleston of the 72nd, Stinson of the 150th, and Cox of the 28th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Article 4 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Cod e of Georgia Annotated,1 relating to advertising and sale of meat generally, so as to prohibit selling, offering for sale,2 trading, or distributi ng lab-grown meat; to provide for definit ions; to provide for related3 matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5 SECTION 1.6 Article 4 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Geor gia Annotated, relating to7 advertising and sale of meat generally, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as8 follows:9 "26-2-162.10 (a) As used in this Code section, the term:11 (1) 'Animal' means any animal, including cattle, swine, sheep, goats, fish, and poultry,12 including eggs, raised for the production of an edible product or products intended for13 human consumption. Such term also includes game animals, as defined in Code Section14 27-1-2.15 (2) 'Lab-grown meat' means cell cultured meat.16 H. B. 201 - 1 - 25 LC 44 2896 (3) 'Meat' means the flesh, offal, or other by-product of any part of the carcass of an17 animal that has been slaughtered.18 (b) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale, trade, or distribute lab-grown19 meat."20 SECTION 2.21 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.22 H.
