25 LC 60 0057 House Resolution 120 By: Representatives Holly of the 116th, Berry of the 56th, Santos of the 117th, and McQueen of the 61st A RESOLUTION Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Georgia so as to extend regular1 legislative sessions to a maximum of 90 legislative days; to provide for related matters; to2 provide for submission of this amendment for ratification or re jection; and for other3 purposes.4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5 SECTION 1.6 Article III, Section IV of the Constitution is amended by revis ing subparagraph (a) of 7 Paragraph I as follows:8 "(a) The Senate and House of Representatives shall organize each odd-numbered year and9 shall be a different General Assembly for each two-year period. The General Assembly10 shall meet in regular session on the second Monday in January of each year, or otherwise11 as provided by law, and may continue in session for a period of no longer than 40 90 days12 in the aggregate each year. By concurrent resolution, the General Assembly may adjourn13 any regular session to such later date as it may fix for reconv ening. Separate periods of14 adjournment may be fixed by one or more such concurrent resolutions."15 H. R. 120 - 1 - 25 LC 60 0057 SECTION 2.16 The above proposed amendment to the Constitution shall be publi shed and submitted as17 provided in Article X, Section I, Paragraph II of the Constitution. The ballot submitting the18 above proposed amendment shall have written or printed thereon the following:19 "( ) YES20 ( ) NO21 22 Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to provide t hat the length of the regular session of the General Assembly each year be extended from 40 legislative days to 90 legislative days?" All persons desiring to vote in favor of ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote "Yes."23 All persons desiring to vote against ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote "No." If24 such amendment shall be ratified as provided in said Paragraph of the Constitution, it shall25 become a part of the Constitution of this state.26 H.
