SR92: SR92 County Marshals' Day; recognize March 11, 2025

25 LC 112 2852 Senate Resolution 92 By: Senators James of the 28th, Albers of the 56th, Rahman of t he 5th, Rhett of the 33rd, Anderson of the 43rd and others A RESOLUTION Commending the county marshals of the State of Georgia and thei r deputies for the1 contributions they make to the communities they protect and serve and recognizing March2 11, 2025, as County Marshals' Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the office of marshal was established in Georgia befor e independence as the4 highest law enforcement officer of the colony, predating the establishment of the office of5 sheriff in Georgia; and6 WHEREAS, marshals and deputy marshals continue their work alongside county sheriffs and7 other members of federal, state, and local law enforcement in accordance with this historic8 tradition; and9 WHEREAS, county marshals and deputy marshals remain essential to the administration of10 justice and the maintenance of public safety in many communities throughout the State of11 Georgia; and12 WHEREAS, county marshals and deputy marshals bear responsibility for enforcing highly13 technical laws and standards as well as performing other specia lized duties that require14 extraordinary tact and compassion; and15 S. R. 92 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2852 WHEREAS, county marshals and deputy marshals diligently strive to protect and serve the16 State of Georgia and its people.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body18 commend the county and deputy marshals of the State of Georgia as well as the other19 members of the organizations that they lead for their contributions to the communities that20 they protect and serve.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body recognize March 11, 2025,22 as County Marshals' Day at the state capitol in celebration of the work of the county and23 deputy marshals of the State of Georgia as well as the other me mbers of the organizations24 that they lead.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the27 press.28 S.
