Senate Resolution 87

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Communities in Schools; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Communities in Schools (CIS) has highly trained site coordinators in schools2
across the state who assess students' needs and partner with local businesses, social service3
agencies, healthcare providers, and community volunteers to provide disadvantaged students4
with the resources they need to succeed in school and in life; and5
WHEREAS, from 2024 to 2025, CIS provided services to over 120,000 students in nearly6
50 school districts and partnered with 223 schools across Georg ia, achieving significant7
improvements in academic outcomes for case-managed students; and8
WHEREAS, 98 percent of the students aided by CIS graduated, 73 percent of students with9
attendance problems showed improved attendance, and 98 percent of of K-8 students were10
promoted; and11
WHEREAS, 70 percent of CIS students with discipline problems in school improved,12
reducing their number of suspensions, and 76 percent of student s improved academically;13

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstand ing organization be15
appropriately honored.16
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body17
honor Communities in Schools for its tremendous service to the youth of Georgia and extend18
best wishes for continued success.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed20
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Communities in21
Schools.22
