25 LC 112 2828 Senate Resolution 103 By: Senators James of the 28th, Mangham of the 55th, Rhett of the 33rd and Anderson of the 43rd A RESOLUTION Celebrating the achievements and capabilities of young Georgians and recognizing March1 18, 2025, as Georgia Children & Youth Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, more than 2.5 million Georgians are under 18 years of age, and today's youth3 are tomorrow's leaders; and4 WHEREAS, the high school graduation rate has risen in recent years, from 67.4 percent in5 2011 to 79.2 percent in 2016; and6 WHEREAS, children are Georgia's most valuable asset, and Georgi a's youth possess7 enormous potential, which must be recognized and realized throu gh constructive social8 policies; and9 WHEREAS, giving Georgia's youth the tools they need to succeed pays enormous dividends;10 and11 WHEREAS, the circumstances of a child's upbringing have a profound impact that reaches12 well into adulthood; therefore, contributions are required from all of society; and13 S. R. 103 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2828 WHEREAS, the Georgia State Legislature is in the unique position to offer its appreciation14 and support of the children and youth of Georgia.15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body16 celebrate the achievements and potential of the more than 2.5 million children and youth in17 Georgia and, in doing so, recognize March 18, 2025, as Georgia Children & Youth Day at18 the state capitol as well as encourage all citizens to recognize and celebrate the achievements19 and potential of Georgia's youngest residents.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the22 press.23 S.
