25 LC 112 2859 House Resolution 139 By: Representatives New of the 40th, Kelley of the 16th, Gullett of the 19th, Momtahan of the 17th, and Smith of the 18th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 4, 2025, as Georgia Association of Voter Registration and Election1 Officials Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Voter Registrar's Association of Georgia (VRAG) was established in 19693 for the purpose of educating, a ssisting, and communicating the Georgia Election Code to4 registrars throughout the State of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, the Georgia Election Officials Association (GEOA) was established in 1985 for6 the purpose of educating, assisting, and communicating the Geor gia Election Code to all7 election officials and probate judges serving as election superintendents throughout the State8 of Georgia; and9 WHEREAS, in 2017, VRAG and GEOA voted to combine and become a joined association,10 the Georgia Association of Voter Registration and Election Offi cials, with the majority of11 Georgia's counties combining boards individually; and12 WHEREAS, it is a registrar's responsibility to register individuals to vote, to keep records13 of these individuals, and to issue absentee ballots; and14 H. R. 139 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2859 WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of election superintendents and probate judges to conduct15 elections and maintain voting equipment; and16 WHEREAS, election officials and registration officials pledge t o freedom and democracy17 and uphold strict and high standards of conduct within their profession so that the public may18 have due confidence in them while exercising their right to vote; and19 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the hard work and high standards of all20 election officials and registrars in the State of Georgia be appropriately recognized.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body recognize February 4, 2025, as Georgia Association of Voter23 Registration and Election Officials Day at the state capitol.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the26 Georgia Association of Voter Registration and Election Officials.27 H.
