A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the National African American Gun Association upon its 10th anniversary;1
and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the National African American Gun Association was founded in 2015 by Philip3
Smith, who established its first chapter, the Bass Reeves Gun Club, in metro Atlanta; and4
WHEREAS, this exemplary nonprofit organization will celebrate i ts 10th anniversary on5
February 28, 2025, honoring a decade of dedicated advocacy, edu cation, and community6
engagement in defense of the rights and responsibilities of African American firearm owners;7
and8
WHEREAS, since its founding, the National African American Gun Association has grown9
to over 120 chapters in more than 40 states, welcoming individuals from diverse religious,10
political, social, cultural, and racial backgrounds while servi ng as a hub for African11
American firearm owners, organizations, and gun clubs; and12
WHEREAS, the organization advocates for the Second Amendment, e ducates on the13
historical significance of firearm ownership within the African American community, and14

provides youth education, safety training, best practices, soci al advocacy, and cultural15
inspiration; and16
WHEREAS, the National African American Gun Association further advocates for the legal17
rights of African Americans to protect their homes, families, and property from all forms of18
crime or domestic terrorism via firearm ownership; and19
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le organization be20
appropriately honored during this special time.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22
the members of this body congratulate the National African American Gun Association upon23
the grand occasion of its 10th anniversary as well as extend be st wishes for continued24
success.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the27
National African American Gun Association.28
