25 LC 33 9739 House Bill 243 By: Representatives Mitchell of the 88th, Oliver of the 84th, Moore of the 91st, Kendrick of the 95th, Holcomb of the 101st, and others A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Part 4 of Article 6 of Chapter 3 of Title 12 of the Of ficial Code of Georgia1 Annotated, relating to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, so as to revise the purpose2 of the association; to provide for related matters; to repeal c onflicting laws; and for other3 purposes.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5 SECTION 1.6 Part 4 of Article 6 of Chapter 3 of Title 12 of the Official Co de of Georgia Annotated,7 relating to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, is amended by revising Code Section8 12-3-192.1, relating to the purpose of the association, as follows:9 "12-3-192.1.10 The purposes of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association shall include:11 (1) To preserve the natural areas situated within the Stone Mountain Park area;12 (2) To provide access to Stone Mountain for Georgia's citizens; and13 (3) To maintain an appropriate and suitable memorial for the Confederacy To educate14 the public about the natural history of the mountain and its environment, and the history15 of human interaction with the mountain and its surroundings."16 H.
