25 LC 112 2864 Senate Resolution 134 By: Senators Hickman of the 4th, Hodges of the 3rd, Dixon of th e 45th, Kemp of the 38th and Gooch of the 51st A RESOLUTION Commending the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (P AGE) on its 50th1 anniversary and recognizing February 18, 2025, as PAGE Day at t he state capitol; and for2 other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) is the state's largest4 organization for professional educators with more than 93,000 members who are teachers,5 administrators, and support personnel employed in every school system in Georgia; and6 WHEREAS, PAGE was founded in 1975 with the mission to make Geor gia a better place7 for students to learn and for teachers to teach, and 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of its8 founding; and9 WHEREAS, the PAGE Foundation sponsors the Academic Bowl for mid dle grades, the10 Georgia Academic Decathlon for high school students, and the St udent and Teacher11 Achievement Recognition (STAR) program; and12 WHEREAS, PAGE has promoted teaching as a profession by sponsoring local chapters of13 the Future Georgia Educators in middle and high schools across the state; and14 S. R. 134 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2864 WHEREAS, PAGE provides legal protection and professional learni ng to enhance15 competence and confidence, build leadership, and increase student achievement; and16 WHEREAS, PAGE actively participates in the legislative process each year, working to17 improve education and student achievement while promoting a pos itive and professional18 working relationship with legislative representatives across the state; and19 WHEREAS, this year marks PAGE's 50th anniversary of continual service and advocacy for20 public educators and public education in Georgia; and21 WHEREAS, on February 18, 2025, PAGE members and leaders will ga ther at the state22 capitol to meet with their local legislators.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24 commend the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE ) for 50 years of25 advocacy and its support of educators and education as well as recognize February 18, 2025,26 as PAGE Day at the state capitol.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Professional29 Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE).30 S.
