A RESOLUTION
Commending the contributions of the Georgia Addiction Counselor s Association and its1
commitment to delivering evidence-based practices to individual s with substance use2
disorders through recognized standards of education, training, and competencies as it3
celebrates 45 years of service to Georgia; and for other purposes.4
WHEREAS, the addiction professional workforce represents more t han 1,500 counselors,5
educators, and other addiction-focused health care professionals; and6
WHEREAS, addiction professionals specialize in prevention, inte rvention, treatment,7
recovery support, and education; and8
WHEREAS, addiction professionals work across a wide variety of settings, including9
outpatient care centers, mental health and substance use disorder facilities, general medicine10
and surgical hospitals, psychiatric and substance use disorder hospitals, private practices,11
clinics, prisons, probation agencies, juvenile detention facili ties, halfway houses,12
detoxification centers, and more; and13

WHEREAS, addiction professionals address the full range of subs tance use disorders in14
communities across the treatment and recovery continuum, includ ing responding to the15
current opioid crisis; and16
WHEREAS, the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association provides evidence-based care17
for substance use disorders, training, and competencies for del ivering quality care while18
saving lives, restoring families, and strengthening communities across Georgia.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
congratulate the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association for 4 5 years of service to the21
people of Georgia and commend its leadership in service to all those across Georgia seeking22
recovery from addiction.23
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Georgia25
Addiction Counselors Association.26
