25 LC 49 2168 Senate Bill 126 By: Senators Dixon of the 45th, Hickman of the 4th, Dolezal of the 27th, Anavitarte of the 31st, Payne of the 54th and others AS PASSED SENATE A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Code Section 20-2-2096.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to1 definitions relative to the "Completion Special Schools Act," s o as to lower the age of2 eligibility from 18 to 16 for certain students to be enrolled i n a completion special school;3 to revise definitions; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other4 purposes.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6 SECTION 1.7 Code Section 20-2-2096.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to definitions8 relative to the "Completion Special Schools Act," is amended by revising paragraphs (5)9 and (6) as follows:10 "(5) 'Dropout' means an individual 16 years of age or older who previously dropped out11 of school according to the uniform definition of 'dropout' provided for in subsection (f)12 of Code Section 20-14-33.13 (6) 'Enrollment eligible student' means:14 (A) An individual 18 1 6 years of age or older who is eligible for enrollment in15 appropriate education programs as provided in subsection (a) of Code16 S. B. 126 - 1 - 25 LC 49 2168 Section 20-2-150, who meets the definition of dropout provided in paragraph (5) of this17 Code section, and who is not currently enrolled in a public school in this state; or18 (B) An individual who is attending a United States Department of Defense Youth19 Challenge Academy or who is in the custody of a correctional fa cility, detention20 facility, jail, prison, or other l awful place of confinement fo r the period of such21 attendance or custody."22 SECTION 2.23 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.24 S.
