25 LC 129 0119 House Resolution 220 By: Representatives Glaize of the 67th and Jackson of the 68th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dereck Isaiah Reed; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Dereck Isaiah Reed is an 11th grade student at Global Impact Academy with2 a deep passion for civil engagement, politics, neuroscience, debate, and philosophy; and3 WHEREAS, he actively participates in numerous academic and extr acurricular activities,4 including the debate club, the Fulton County Youth Commission, the Future Business5 Leaders of America, the AJC Black and Jewish Teen Initiative, tutoring, the National Honor6 Society, and the Fulton County Advisory Council, while also pla ying basketball for7 Creekside High School; and8 WHEREAS, dedicated to community service and involvement, he is currently interning with9 State Representative Lydia Glaize, where he engages in political initiatives and helps those10 in need by distributing food and essentials; and11 WHEREAS, beyond his academic and civic pursuits, he enjoys playing basketball, watching12 podcasts, reading nonfiction, playing chess, and spending time with his family, friends, and13 pet cat; and14 H. R. 220 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0119 WHEREAS, Dereck aspires to attend Howard University or another Historically Black15 College or University (HBCU) as he pursues his goal of becoming a neurosurgeon; and16 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstandi ng achievements of this17 remarkable student be appropriately honored.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body recognize and commend Dereck Isaiah Reed for his exceptional20 student leadership and extend best wishes for future success.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to23 Dereck Isaiah Reed.24 H.
