25 LC 112 2883 Senate Resolution 152 By: Senators Brass of the 6th, Anavitarte of the 31st, Hatchett of the 50th, Robertson of the 29th, Payne of the 54th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the Georgia Academy of Audiology; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, approximately 60.7 million Americans aged 12 and older struggle with hearing2 loss; and3 WHEREAS, the number of Georgians impacted by hearing loss and b alance disorders4 continues to grow, and the national population experiencing hea ring loss is expected to5 double by 2060; and6 WHEREAS, audiologists are Georgia-licensed professionals holding Doctor of Audiology7 (AuD) degrees or other doctoral degrees from accredited univers ities with specialized8 training programs in the identification, assessment, and treatm ent of hearing and balance9 disorders; and10 WHEREAS, audiologists work collaboratively to provide evaluations and treatment options11 for hearing losses and balance disorders as well as educate about prevention efforts in private12 practices, hospitals, clinics, physician offices, universities, pre-k through 12 schools, and13 government and military facilities; and14 S. R. 152 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2883 WHEREAS, many Georgia-licensed audiologists are members of the Georgia Academy of15 Audiology, a nonprofit organization that plays a crucial role in supporting audiologists across16 Georgia by advocating for policies that improve access to heari ng and balance healthcare,17 providing continuing education opportunities, fostering collaboration and networking among18 audiologists, and raising public awareness about the importance of hearing health, early19 detection, treatment of disorders, and the prevention of hearing loss; and20 WHEREAS, many of the Georgia Academy of Audiology's members are also members of21 the national professional organization, the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), and22 they work closely with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA ) and American23 Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA); and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25 organization and its members be appropriately recognized for th e healthcare services26 provided to Georgians, including their leadership on healthcare policy.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 recognize and commend the Georgia Academy of Audiology for its years of efficient,29 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of this state as well as extend30 to the organization their most sincere best wishes.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the Georgia33 Academy of Audiology.34 S.
