25 LC 129 0130 House Resolution 216 By: Representatives Park of the 107th, Clark of the 108th, Beckles of the 96th, Romman of the 97th, Adeyina of the 110th, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and honoring Principal Denise Showell of Hull Middl e School in Duluth,1 recipient of the National Blue Ribbon School Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, on September 23, 2024, the United States Department of Education named Hull3 Middle School the recipient of the 2024 National Blue Ribbon School Award, a prestigious4 honor award based on student academic achievement measures and progress toward closing5 achievement gaps; and6 WHEREAS, Principal Denise Showell has displayed exemplary leadership and devotion to7 her students' education as well as modeled passion for teaching for all future educators in8 Georgia; and9 WHEREAS, Principal Denise Showell has spent the last 38 years in the education field and10 has been at the helm at Hull Middle School for 20 years, where her guidance and vision have11 fostered a culture of excellence; and12 WHEREAS, under her leadership, Hull Middle School has received the Governors Platinum13 and Silver Awards in recognition of outstanding academic performance; and14 H. R. 216 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0130 WHEREAS, Principal Denise Showell has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority15 for 39 years, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to service and community engagement;16 and17 WHEREAS, such achievements contribute to the advancement of Gwi nnett County and18 underscore the importance of supporting educators, mentorship, and commitment to quality19 training; and20 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia proudly recognizes individuals whose tireless efforts have21 a lasting impact on the lives of students and the broader community.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body recognize and honor Principal Denise Showell for her career-long24 achievements and extend best wishes for her and the Gwinnett Co unty Public School25 System's continued success in all future endeavors.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to28 Principal Denise Showell.29 H.
