25 LC 112 2960 House Resolution 240 By: Representatives Stephens of the 164 th, Petrea of the 166 th, Jackson of the 165 th, Westbrook of the 163rd, Hitchens of the 161st, and others A RESOLUTION Commending the City of Savannah and Mayor Van R. Johnson on the Mayor on the Move:1 Healthy Savannah Kids Club; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mayor Van R. Johnson and the City of Savannah were recently selected as one3 of nine winning cities across the United States for the 2025 Childhood Obesity Prevention4 & Environmental Health & Sustainability Awards; and5 WHEREAS, the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America and the United6 States Conference of Mayors presented the award during the 93rd Winter Meeting of the7 United States Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C.; and8 WHEREAS, the Georgia Beverage Association and the American Beve rage Association9 have a long history of supporting programs that address childhood obesity, environmental10 health, and sustainability by encouraging community members to engage in healthier11 behaviors; and12 WHEREAS, the City of Savannah was selected for its innovative a pproach to health and13 wellness, as exemplified by its Mayor on the Move: Healthy Savannah Kids Club program;14 and15 H. R. 240 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2960 WHEREAS, the Mayor on the Move: Healthy Savannah Kids Club is a passport-based16 program featuring activities across seven health domains: socia l, emotional, physical,17 intellectual, environmental, spiritual, and financial; and18 WHEREAS, the program's target audience of middle school students and their families will19 receive a Healthy Savannah Kids Club passport, which provides opportunities to support the20 whole child's health and development, with pages designated for passport stamps earned21 through participation in activities.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body commend the City of Savannah and Mayor Van R. Johnson for24 their outstanding achievement in developing the Mayor on the Move: Healthy Savannah Kids25 Club initiative and their commitment to fostering a comprehensive approach to youth health26 and community wellness.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the29 public and the press.30 H.
