25 LC 112 2978 Senate Resolution 174 By: Senators Kennedy of the 18th, Williams of the 25th and Lucas of the 26th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 19, 2025, as Macon Day at the state capito l and commending and1 congratulating Leadership Macon; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Leadership Macon provides leadership training and community orientation to3 individuals seeking to become more involved in the growth and development of Macon and4 Bibb County; and 5 WHEREAS, a program of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Macon is6 a year-long program that introduces a class of upcoming community leaders to the attributes7 of and challenges to Macon and Bibb County so that the class can explore possible projects8 and solutions, interact with political and community leaders, and develop relationships that9 will benefit each class member and the community for years to come; and 10 WHEREAS, class members receive unparalleled access to organizat ions, their leadership,11 and perspective in the community. Frank, candid exchanges of ideas are not only hallmarks12 of the program but are also the foundation on which Leadership Macon continues to build.13 The program's goal is that each Leadership Macon graduate will be equipped with the14 knowledge, relationships, and enthusiasm needed for active, eff ective community15 involvement and enrichment; and 16 S. R. 174 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2978 WHEREAS, in 1979, under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce, Charles Jay and Bob17 Hatcher brought 25 local leaders from diverse backgrounds together to form the first class18 of Leadership Macon, which was formally organized as an unincor porated association on19 October 16, 1984. Leadership Macon boasts over 1,600 alumni an d celebrates its 46th20 anniversary as it continues to encourage everyone to Choose Macon.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22 recognize February 19, 2025, as Macon Day at the state capitol, commend Leadership Macon23 on its efforts to make Macon and Bibb County a better place to live and work, and offer24 congratulations on the group's 46th anniversary. 25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Leadership Macon.27 S.
