25 LC 112 3001 House Resolution 265 By: Representative Powell of the 33rd A RESOLUTION Commending Gary Minyard, recipient of the 2024 Pioneers in Educ ation Award; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Gary Minyard, a retired agriculture teacher and dedica ted Franklin County3 Board of Education member, has been honored as a recipient of t he 2024 Pioneers in4 Education Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions and years of service; and5 WHEREAS, a native of Franklin County, he earned his associate's degree from Emmanuel6 College and obtained his bachelor's, master's, and specialist degrees from the University of7 Georgia, establishing a strong foundation for his lifelong career in education; and8 WHEREAS, after teaching for a year in Wilkes County, he returned to Franklin County and9 dedicated 39 years of exemplary service to the Franklin County School System, instructing10 at both the middle and high school levels and retiring in 2014; and11 WHEREAS, he played a pivotal role in developing one of the most successful agricultural12 programs in the State of Georgia, leading the Franklin County F FA Chapter to state and13 national recognition as well as advising numerous state officers and national winners; and14 H. R. 265 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3001 WHEREAS, his leadership extended beyond the classroom through h is service with the15 Georgia Vocational Association, earning him the National Associ ation of Agricultural16 Educators Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his lasting impact on agricultural17 education; and18 WHEREAS, in addition to his service on the Franklin County Board of Education, he is an19 active member of the Hart EMC Foundation Board, Gideons International, and Zidon Baptist20 Church, where he serves as a deacon; and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstand ing individual be22 appropriately honored during this special time.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body commend Gary Minyard, recipient of the 2024 Pioneers in25 Education Award, for his remarkable contributions to education, his lifelong dedication to26 agriculture, and his continued service to the Franklin County community as well as extend27 best wishes for future health and happiness.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Gary30 Minyard.31 H.
