25 LC 112 3021 House Resolution 269 By: Representatives Jackson of the 165 th, Westbrook of the 163 rd, Stephens of the 164 th, Gilliard of the 162nd, Petrea of the 166th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring and celebrating the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the Savan nah State University1 National Alumni Association on its 65th anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the Savannah State University National Alumni3 Association (SSUNAA) has exemplified unwavering commitment and dedication to4 Savannah State University (SSU) and the greater Atlanta community for over six decades;5 and6 WHEREAS, established with the purpose of fostering alumni engag ement and supporting7 the mission of Savannah State University, the Metro Atlanta Chapter has become a vibrant8 and inclusive home for alumni spanning many generations, creati ng a diverse and unified9 network of Tiger alumni; and10 WHEREAS, one of the hallmarks of the Metro Atlanta Chapter's storied history is its Annual11 Scholarship Awards Program, which generously provides annual scholarships to incoming12 SSU freshmen; this program, sustained through the dedication of its members and matching13 partnerships, has helped countless students achieve their dreams of higher education; and14 H. R. 269 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3021 WHEREAS, as a "chapter on the move," the Metro Atlanta Chapter has continuously united15 SSU alumni in the Atlanta area to propel the mission of Savannah State University forward16 and ensure the legacy of the institution is preserved for future generations.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body honor and commend the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the Savannah19 State University National Alumni Association on the occasion of its 65th anniversary for its20 remarkable achievements, steadfast commitment to education, and immeasurable21 contributions to Savannah State University and the Metro Atlanta community.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body celebrate the members of the23 Metro Atlanta Chapter, both past and present, for their dedication, leadership, and enduring24 Tiger spirit, which has positively impacted countless lives and strengthened the bonds of the25 SSU family.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the28 Metro Atlanta Chapter of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association.29 H.
