25 LC 112 2923 House Resolution 308 By: Representatives Rice of the 139th, Ballinger of the 23rd, Dempsey of the 13th, Buckner of the 137th, Townsend of the 179th, and others A RESOLUTION Honoring and commending the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children is a nonprofit entity that was founded2 in Atlanta in 1996 by a group of nonprofit agencies serving at-risk children involved in the3 child welfare system; and4 WHEREAS, the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children is often called "MAAC"; and5 WHEREAS, MAAC coordinates people, resources, information, and a network of quality6 providers to create positive outcomes for vulnerable youth and families; and7 WHEREAS, MAAC utilizes a seamless continuum of services and car e in addressing the8 unique needs of each child, adolescent, and family, including behavioral health services and9 services that are trauma responsive and reflective of adolescen t brain development,10 individualizing treatment and care and reducing the number of placements of children and11 youth in various out-of-home care settings while working toward s ending duplication of12 services; and13 H. R. 308 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2923 WHEREAS, MAAC focuses its work on filling service gaps, building innovative solutions14 within the child welfare system, collaborating with partner age ncies, and focusing on15 providing care coordination and other services that emphasize youth voice and choice; and16 W H E R E A S , M A A C a n d i t s m e m b e r s p r o v i d e a v a r i e t y o f s e r v i c e s t o these children,17 adolescents, and families, including residential care through its child caring institutions, crisis18 continuum, specialized family foster care through child placing agencies, group homes,19 education success support, workforce development and career training, life skills training,20 and intensive psychiatric care; and21 WHEREAS, MAAC serves youth throughout Georgia with a permanency -focused,22 collaborative, team-based approach through its Network Collabor ative and high-fidelity23 wraparound PACT/Thrive Program w hile providing young adults who have experienced24 foster care with individualized development and skills in core areas, including leadership25 through Georgia EmpowerMEnt, financial education and savings su pport through26 Opportunity Passport® Matched Savings, career and employee deve lopment through27 Workforce Development, young parenting skills through Teen Pare nt Connection, and28 educational support through LEADS; and29 WHEREAS, MAAC has achieved Council on Accreditation recognition , is a Sanctuary30 Certified Organization, and each of its member entities and aff iliates utilizes national best31 practices and is accredited by a national accreditation body; and32 WHEREAS, MAAC's current provider member entities are Creative Community Services33 Inc., Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia, Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and34 Family Ministries Inc., Elks Aidmore, Goshen Valley, Hillside Inc., The Methodist Home,35 Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, and Youth Villages; and36 H. R. 308 - 2 - 25 LC 112 2923 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this37 distinguished organization, including its member entities and a ffiliates, be appropriately38 recognized for the care it provides to Georgians.39 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that40 the members of this body honor and commend the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children and41 its member entities and affiliates for their tireless, efficien t, effective, unselfish, and42 dedicated public service to the children, adolescents, and families of this state.43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized44 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the45 Multi-Agency Alliance for Children.46 H.
