25 LC 112 2987 House Resolution 312 By: Representatives Holly of the 116th, Silcox of the 53rd, Holland of the 54th, Oliver of the 84th, and Prince of the 132nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Collie Greenwood; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, a 45-year veteran of the transit industry, Collie Greenwood joined MARTA in2 July 2019 as Chief of Bus Operations and Urban Planning, was appointed Deputy General3 Manager of Operations and Urban Planning in 2020, and was named General Manager and4 Chief Executive Officer by the MARTA Board of Directors in October 2022; and5 WHEREAS, he is currently leading MARTA's largest expansion and modernization initiative6 since its founding over 40 years ago, including cutting-edge ad vancements such as7 implementing Communications-Based Train Control for improved rail efficiency, expanding8 zero-emissions bus rapid transit lines, and modernizing fare pa yment systems to enhance9 accessibility and customer convenience; and10 WHEREAS, under Collie Greenwood's leadership, MARTA has earned the Outstanding11 Public Transportation System Award from the American Public Transportation Association12 for remarkable leadership, systemwide excellence, and serving as an exemplary role model13 for other North American transit agencies; and14 H. R. 312 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2987 WHEREAS, prior to joining MARTA, he served as Chief Service Off icer for the Toronto15 Transit Commission, North America's third-largest transit syste m, where he oversaw bus,16 subway, streetcar, and accessible transit services as well as s tation operations and transit17 security; and18 WHEREAS, Collie Greenwood is an active member of the American Public Transportation19 Association, serving on its Executive Committee and Board of Directors as well as Chair of20 its Standards Development Oversight Council; and21 WHEREAS, Collie Greenwood continues to drive MARTA's mission fo rward, leading22 ambitious infrastructure improvements, modernizing transit serv ices, and positioning the23 system to meet the growing transportation needs of metro Atlanta.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend Collie Greenwood for his effective,26 efficient, and dedicated leadership as well as extend best wishes for continued success.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Collie29 Greenwood.30 H.
