25 LC 112 3075 House Resolution 331 By: Representative Gambill of the 15th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and legacy of Bruce Thompson, recipient of th e Cartersville-Bartow1 County Chamber of Commerce 2024 Chairman's Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Bruce Thompson was recently honored posthumously as th e recipient of the3 Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce 2024 Chairman's Award in recognition4 of his exemplary service to the State of Georgia, with his wife, Becky Thompson, accepting5 the award on his behalf; and6 WHEREAS, a dedicated local businessman, Bruce Thompson played a n integral role in7 Bartow County's economic growth and served as the 2012 Board Ch air of the8 Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce; and9 WHEREAS, he continued his service to the community as a Georgia State Senator from10 2014 to 2022, representing parts of Bartow and Cherokee counties as well as championing11 community values, safety, and economic development during his tenure; and12 WHEREAS, in 2021, Bruce Thompson launched a successful campaign for Commissioner13 of the Georgia Department of Labor, where he advanced key initi atives such as Second14 Chance hiring and worked to position Georgia as the No. 1 state for business; and15 H. R. 331 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3075 WHEREAS, despite his statewide responsibilities, he remained deeply connected to Bartow16 County, often recognizing local leaders during his speeches and collaborating closely with17 the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce; and18 WHEREAS, Bruce Thompson's profound contributions and enduring legacy of service to the19 Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce, Bartow County, and the State of20 Georgia make him a well-deserved recipient of this prestigious award.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body honor the life and legacy of Bruce Thompson upon his posthumous23 receipt of the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce 2024 Chairman's Award;24 express their deepest commendation for his efficient, effective, and dedicated public service25 to the State of Georgia; and extend sincere best wishes to his family for their continued26 strength and grace.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 family of Bruce Thompson.30 H.
