25 LC 129 0184 House Resolution 391 By: Representatives Reese of the 140th, Hugley of the 141st, Rice of the 139th, Buckner of the 137th, and Smith of the 138th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. on the occasion1 of his tenth pastoral anniversary; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. has demonstrated his commitment3 to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed , and addressing the4 physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and5 WHEREAS, he accepted the call to preach the Gospel in June 1996 and has since provided6 more than 25 years of pastoral leadership to the congregations of Friendship Baptist Church7 in Calhoun, Simpson Road Baptist Church in Atlanta, and Living Faith Church in Mableton;8 and9 WHEREAS, this year, Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. will celebrate the tenth10 anniversary of his call to serve as pastor of Wynnton Hill Bapt ist Church in Columbus,11 Georgia; and12 WHEREAS, his vision and direction have helped Wynnton Hill Baptist Church grow in size13 and influence, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual14 leader and place for fellowship; and15 H. R. 391 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0184 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr. has further served for 20 years in16 the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia Inc. as th e former Home Missions17 Director and the current Director of Music; and18 WHEREAS, he has traveled throughout the nation and the world to share the Good News of19 Jesus, preaching in the National and Progressive Baptist Conven tions as well as20 internationally in Meiningen and Frankfurt, Germany; Czechoslovakia; Liberia; Africa; and21 Haiti; and22 WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne23 Sherman Sr. is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message25 of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works rendered26 on behalf of persons in need.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman29 Sr. upon the wonderful occasion of his tenth pastoral anniversary and extend best wishes for30 many more years of successful fellowship and leadership.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to33 Reverend Dr. Michael Wayne Sherman Sr.34 H.
