25 LC 112 3133 House Resolution 390 By: Representatives Camp of the 135th, Dickey of the 134th, and Erwin of the 32nd A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending the Lamar County School System, recipient of the Georgia1 Reads Community Award, for its dedication to literacy advancement; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth3 through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critic al role in addressing low4 literacy rates; and5 W H E R E A S , t h e G e o r g i a R e a d s C o m m u n i t y A w a r d w a s e s t a b l i s h e d t o recognize6 communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,7 sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and m easurable results in literacy8 improvement; and9 WHEREAS, the Lamar County School System, utilizing the L4GA process, has strengthened10 partnerships with local literacy organizations to boost community literacy engagement; and11 WHEREAS, these meaningful partnerships include the City of Barn esville,12 Barnesville-Lamar County Library, Milner Library, Ferst Readers of Lamar County, E.P.13 Roberts Community Center, local daycare centers, and the Lamar County Health14 Department; and15 H. R. 390 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3133 WHEREAS, the Lamar County School System was selected as a Georgia Reads Community16 Award recipient for its diligent efforts to develop and implement innovative programs that17 have significantly increased literacy rates within its communities; and18 WHEREAS, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in reading proficiency,19 ensuring greater opportunities for success in education and career development; and20 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of the Lamar County Schoo l System and its21 partners serve as an inspiration to others, demonstrating the p ower of community-driven22 solutions to address literacy challenges.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body congratulate and commend the Georgia Reads Community Award25 winners, particularly the Lamar County School System, for their exemplary service and26 unwavering commitment to improving literacy in their communities.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Lamar County School System.30 H.
