25 LC 129 0162 House Resolution 374 By: Representatives Byrd of the 20th, Ballinger of the 23rd, Jasperse of the 11th, Ridley of the 22nd, McDonald III of the 26th, and others A RESOLUTION Commending Fire Chief Eddie Robinson, the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief of the Year; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs has chosen Fire Chief Eddie Robinson3 as the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief of the Year in recognition of his exemplary leadership and4 dedication to both the fire service and the State of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, he received this distinguished honor during the 53rd A nnual Firefighters6 Recognition Day a t the Georgia State Capitol, an event that cel ebrates excellence and7 contributions within Georgia's fire service; and8 WHEREAS, Chief Robinson began his fire service career in 1979 a s a volunteer in his9 hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina, before relocating to Georgia, where he continued10 his service with the Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department; and11 WHEREAS, throughout his more than two decades with Cherokee Cou nty Fire &12 Emergency Services, Chief Robinson has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to13 excellence, serving as Safety Officer in 2001, Division Chief of Training in 2009, Assistant14 H. R. 374 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0162 Fire Chief in 2011, and ultimately Fire Chief in 2022 following the retirement of his mentor,15 Fire Chief Tim Prather; and16 WHEREAS, his distinguished leadership has significantly advanced Cherokee County Fire17 & Emergency Services, fostering improvements in operational eff iciency, training, and18 community safety to better serve the citizens of Cherokee County; and19 WHEREAS, beyond his professional contributions, Chief Robinson is a graduate of the20 Leadership Cherokee program, serving as its Chair in 2008 and participating on its steering21 committee, and he has led the Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Explorer Post22 469 to numerous accolades at the annual Winterfest competitions; and23 WHEREAS, he has further been instrumental in organizing Cherokee County's annual Patriot24 Day Ceremony, held each September in remembrance of September 11, 2001, ensuring that25 the sacrifices of first responders and military personnel are honored; and26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstand ing individual be27 appropriately recognized during this special time.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 the members of this body commend Fire Chief Eddie Robinson, the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief30 of the Year, and express best wishes for future health and happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Fire33 Chief Eddie Robinson.34 H.
