25 LC 129 0187 House Resolution 369 By: Representatives Schofield of the 63rd, Glaize of the 67th, Davis of the 87th, Scott of the 76th, and Cannon of the 58th A RESOLUTION Commending and congratulating Ms. Donehoo of Benjamin Banneker High School on being1 named Teacher of the Year; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, excellence in education depends on dedicated educators such as Ms. Donehoo,3 who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering acad emic success and4 inspiring students; and5 WHEREAS, Ms. Donehoo was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, w here she graduated6 from Saint Pius X Catholic High School; and7 WHEREAS, she earned a full athletic scholarship to play Divisio n 1 soccer at Georgia8 Southern University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English before pursuing9 graduate work; and10 WHEREAS, Ms. Donehoo accepted the American Literature Association's (ALA) Graduate11 Fellowship, pursued a master's degree in English at Georgia Southern University, and served12 as the ALA's Executive Assistant, organizing and planning conferences in cities across the13 United States, including Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, Savannah, and San Francisco; and14 H. R. 369 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0187 WHEREAS, during graduate school, she conducted archival research on Ernest Hemingway15 at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, Massachu setts, and presented her16 work at the 28th International Hemingway Conference in Paris, France, in 2018; and17 WHEREAS, after graduating summa cum laude, Ms. Donehoo began her teaching career at18 Benjamin Banneker High School, where she has taught literature for the past seven years;19 and20 WHEREAS, Ms. Donehoo furthered her education by earning a master's degree in teaching21 from Western Governors University in May 2024; and22 WHEREAS, her tireless dedication to education, her outstanding achievements, and her23 commitment to her students have earned her the distinguished honor of being named Teacher24 of the Year at Benjamin Banneker High School.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 the members of this body commend Ms. Donehoo for her exceptiona l contributions to27 education, congratulate her on being named Teacher of the Year at Benjamin Banneker High28 School, and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ms.31 Donehoo.32 H.
