25 LC 112 3158 Senate Resolution 260 By: Senator Mangham of the 55th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending James S. Clark, recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.1 Community Service Award; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of the Sherman Town community in S tone Mountain,3 Georgia, James S. Clark has faithfully served his fellow citizens as a chauffeur, care giver,4 handyman, and dedicated provider of meals for the homebound and those in need, preparing5 weekly meals and cooking for the Forever Young Senior Group twice a month; and6 WHEREAS, he has further served his community as president of the Stone Mountain Day7 Committee for over 30 years; actively participated in Piney Gro ve Lodge 585, where he8 served a term as Worshipful Master; and contributed to local sports as a player-coach for the9 Stone Mountain A's softball team for 15 years; and10 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, he is a lifelong memb er of St. Paul A.M.E.11 Church who has served as part of the Trustee Board and the St. Paul Male Chorus; and12 WHEREAS, a proud veteran, James S. Clark has also served as a g uardian of this nation's13 freedom and liberty with the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam and14 earning two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star; and15 S. R. 260 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3158 WHEREAS, as additional testament to his dedication to those in need, he has received16 numerous awards and recognitions throughout his church and community for his untiring and17 selfless contributions on behalf of others; and18 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high19 ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom20 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved21 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and22 WHEREAS, James S. Clark is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable23 reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplar y individual be25 appropriately honored during this special time.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 recognize and commend James S. Clark, recipient of the Dr. Mart in Luther King Jr.28 Community Service Award, and extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and29 success.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to James S.
