A RESOLUTION
Commending Georgia's trauma professionals, the Georgia Trauma C ommission, and the1
Georgia Trauma Foundation and recognizing February 26, 2025, as Trauma Awareness Day2
at the state capitol; and for other purposes.3
WHEREAS, trauma is the leading cause of death in the United States for those under the age4
of 45 and the fourth leading cause of death for all ages; and5
WHEREAS, physical trauma, including injuries from accidents, vi olence, and natural6
disasters, affects millions of individuals each year, leading to significant physical, emotional,7
and financial burdens; and8
WHEREAS, the recognition and awareness of physical trauma are essential for improving9
prevention, care, and recovery efforts, and both high-quality trauma care facilities and trained10
medical personnel are crucial for providing immediate and effec tive treatment to trauma11
victims; and12
WHEREAS, prevention and safety measures such as road safety cam paigns, workplace13
safety regulations, and violence prevention programs play a vit al role in reducing the14
incidence of physical trauma; and15

WHEREAS, rehabilitation services, including physical therapy and occupational therapy, are16
essential for the long-term recovery and well-being of trauma survivors; and17
WHEREAS, public education and awareness campaigns are necessary to inform the18
community about the causes and consequences of physical trauma and the available19
resources for support and recovery; and20
WHEREAS, legislative support is needed to ensure adequate fundi ng for trauma centers,21
research into trauma treatment, and policies that enhance public safety; and22
WHEREAS, community organizations and volunteers play a significant role in supporting23
trauma survivors and promoting safety and prevention efforts.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25
the members of this body commend Georgia's trauma professionals , the Georgia Trauma26
Commission, and the Georgia Trauma Foundation as well as recognize February 26, 2025,27
as Trauma Awareness Day at the state capitol to raise awareness about physical trauma,28
promote prevention and safety measures, support trauma care and rehabilitation services, and29
honor the efforts of medical professionals, community organizat ions, and volunteers in30
addressing physical trauma.31
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the33
public and the press.34
