A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Communities in Schools of Atlanta; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Communities in Schools of Atlanta (CIS of Atlanta) places caring adults inside2
schools to create a consistent academic, emotiona l, and financi al support system to help3
students stay in school and graduate; and4
WHEREAS, CIS of Atlanta's mission is to surround students with a community of support,5
empowering them to remain in school and achieve success in life by collaborating with6
teachers, parents, and community partners to meet each student's unique needs; and7
WHEREAS, CIS of Atlanta currently serves students across six me tro Atlanta school8
districts—Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County, DeKalb County, Decatur City Schools,9
Clayton County, and Griffin-Spalding County—by providing essential services that foster10
a positive school environment and address school-wide risk factors; and11
WHEREAS, among the 49,000 students served during the 2023-2024 school year, those12
receiving intensive individualized support from CIS of Atlanta totaled 3,914, with 99 percent13
remaining in school and 98 percent graduating or being promoted to the next grade level,14
surpassing the average by 14 percent; and15

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstand ing organization be16
appropriately honored.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18
the members of this body recognize and commend Communities in Schools of Atlanta for19
its tremendous service to the youth of metro Atlanta and extend best wishes for continued20
success.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to23
Communities in Schools of Atlanta.24
