25 LC 129 0171 Senate Resolution 275 By: Senator James of the 28th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Apostle Darryl L. Winston; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Apostle Darryl L. Winston has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the2 Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,3 psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and4 WHEREAS, Apostle Darryl L. Winston accepted the call to ministr y in 1986 and was5 ordained in 1991 at the historic Union Temple Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.; and6 WHEREAS, in 1995, he organized Greater Works Ministries as an o utreach ministry to7 youth, which has since grown under his exemplary leadership into one of the most innovative8 churches in the United States; and9 WHEREAS, a distinguished pastor, community activist, and youth advocate, Apostle Darryl10 L. Winston has further founded the Mercy Seat Assembly, the Global Prayer Network, the11 Shalom Assembly, the F.R.E.D. Initiative, and the Save our City Coalition to serve and12 support his fellow citizens; and13 S. R. 275 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0171 WHEREAS, as additional testament to his dedication to excellenc e, Apostle Darryl L.14 Winston's School of Ministry has trained over 2,000 leaders from diverse denominations and15 religious affiliations; and16 WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the s ick, counseling the17 troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or18 humanitarian, Apostle Darryl L. Winston has shown the energy, devotion, and commitment19 truly reflective of divine guidance; and20 WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Apostle Darryl L. Winston is a21 source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message23 of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works rendered24 on behalf of persons in need.25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body26 recognize and commend Apostle Da rryl L. Winston for his innumer able good works27 rendered on behalf of persons in need and extend best wishes fo r many more years of28 successful fellowship and leadership.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Apostle Darryl L.31 Winston.32 S.
