25 LC 112 3159 House Resolution 404 By: Representatives Efstration of the 104th, Burns of the 159th, Smith of the 138th, Dickey of the 134th, Hong of the 103rd, and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Talmadge James on the occasion of her retirement; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Talmadge James has long been recognized by the citizens and leaders of this3 state for the vital role she has played in state and local government and for her deep personal4 commitment to the State of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, for the past 25 years, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted countless6 hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of the daily operations of the7 Georgia General Assembly, as evidenced by her exemplary service in the Georgia House of8 Representatives; and9 WHEREAS, Talmadge James began her career with the House of Representatives on April10 1, 1999, after previously serving as a session assistant in 1998, and she has since advanced11 to roles in the Governor's Floor Leader's Office and, most rece ntly, the House Majority12 Leader's Office; and13 WHEREAS, she has excelled in each of these positions, demonstrating an exceptional ability14 to identify opportunities for elected leaders, maintaining an e xtensive network of contacts15 H. R. 404 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3159 across state agencies and departments, and serving with an unwaveringly cheerful demeanor;16 and17 WHEREAS, a woman of determination and perseverance, she has als o demonstrated18 physical endurance through her participation in the Peachtree Road Race and several other19 competitive races; and20 WHEREAS, Talmadge James has ser ved with honor and distinction, and her vision and21 unyielding commitment to the Georgia House of Representatives will be sorely missed upon22 the occasion of her retirement on March 1, 2025; and23 WHEREAS, she is cherished by her colleagues under the Gold Dome , who count her24 friendship as a special experience they will always treasure, and it is abundantly fitting and25 proper that she be honored for her many contributions to this state.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize and commend Talmadge James for her two and a half28 decades of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of the29 State of Georgia; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of h er retirement; and extend30 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to33 Talmadge James.34 H.
