25 LC 112 3140 House Resolution 425 By: Representatives Carpenter of the 4th, Cox of the 28th, Meeks of the 178th, Adesanya of the 43rd, Willis of the 55th, and others A RESOLUTION Commending the restaurant industry of Georgia and recognizing February 26, 2025, as State1 Restaurant Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the restaurant industry plays a vital role in Georgia's economic prosperity and3 the quality of life for all Georgians; and4 WHEREAS, Georgia's restaurant industry comprises more than 23,0 00 food and drink5 establishments and generates more than $30.1 billion annually, providing more than 500,0006 jobs statewide; and7 WHEREAS, the majority of Georgia's restaurants are independently owned small businesses;8 and9 WHEREAS, numerous national restaurant industry brands are headquartered in Georgia; and10 WHEREAS, the Georgia Restaurant Association is dedicated to pro viding a voice in11 advocacy, education, and awareness for the restaurant industry throughout the state to12 express to residents and visitors the great value, quality, and services provided by local food13 establishments; and14 H. R. 425 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3140 WHEREAS, the Georgia Restaurant Association Foundation works wi th state and local15 agencies to promote food safety and job skills through the Serv Safe® and ProStart®16 educational programs as well as the industry mentoring of young professionals; and17 WHEREAS, fifty percent of all adults in Georgia have worked in the restaurant industry,18 thereby providing jobs skills that serve as a launching point for careers; and19 WHEREAS, the contributions and efforts of the professionals wor king in the restaurant20 industry to provide the highest quality food and drinks in Georgia, to promote small business,21 and to contribute billions of dollars to local and state tax re venue to stimulate economic22 growth are worthy of recognition.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24 the members of this body commend the restaurant industry as critical to the economic vitality25 of the State of Georgia and recognize February 26, 2025, as State Restaurant Day at the state26 capitol.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Georgia Restaurant Association.30 H.
