25 LC 52 0803 Senate Bill 277 By: Senator Tillery of the 19th A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Chapter 5 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to drug1 abuse treatment and education programs, so as to revise the def inition of drugs to include2 alcohol and its derivatives; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for3 other purposes.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:5 SECTION 1.6 Chapter 5 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated , relating to drug abuse7 treatment and education programs, is amended in Code Section 26 -5-3, relating to8 definitions, by revising paragraph (4) as follows:9 "(4) 'Drugs' means any substance defined as a drug by federal o r Georgia law or any10 other chemical substance which may be used in lieu of a drug to obtain similar effects,11 with the exception of including alcohol and its derivatives."12 SECTION 2.13 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.14 S.
