25 LC 112 2989 House Resolution 409 By: Representatives Herring of the 145th, Jones of the 143rd, Griffin of the 149th, Paris of the 142nd, and Washburn of the 144th A RESOLUTION Commending the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) f or its exceptional1 contributions to economic development, investment attraction, and community partnerships2 in Macon-Bibb County; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, the MBCIA has demonstrated outstanding leadership in f ostering economic4 growth, culminating in over $1 billion in investments in Macon-Bibb County during 2024;5 and6 WHEREAS, significant milestones achieved under the MBCIA's guid ance include Irving7 Tissue's announcement of a nearly $600 million expansion, adding at least 100 new jobs to8 its Macon facility; First Quality Baby Products' announcement of a $418 million expansion,9 further strengthening the local economy; YKK USA's celebration of 50 years of operation10 in Macon, exemplifying long-term industrial commitment; and Embraer's reaffirmation of11 its dedication to the region by signing a new 15-year lease, ensuring continued operations in12 Macon; and13 WHEREAS, the MBCIA has facilitated substantial contributions to local development and14 education through the Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) Program, including a $1,941,64315 check presented to the Bibb County School District, accepted by Superintendent Dan Sims,16 H. R. 409 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2989 and a $1,929,580 check presented to Macon-Bibb County, accepted by Mayor Lester Miller;17 and18 WHEREAS, these strategic initiatives and partnerships have sign ificantly enhanced the19 economic landscape of Macon-Bibb County, creating employment opportunities, expanding20 the tax base, and improving the quality of life for residents.21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 the members of this body commend the Macon-Bibb County Industri al Authority for its23 exemplary efforts in driving economic development, attracting substantial investments, and24 fostering collaborative relationships that benefit the entire community.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body recognize Board Chair Robby26 Fountain, Executive Director Stephen Adams, and the leadership and staff of the27 Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority for their dedication, vision, and effective execution28 of strategies that have positioned Macon-Bibb County as a premier destination for business29 and industry.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the32 Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.33 H.
