25 LC 112 3149 Senate Resolution 264 By: Senators Albers of the 56th, Robertson of the 29th, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Watson of the 1st, Hufstetler of the 52nd and others A RESOLUTION Commending the emergency medical services professionals of Geor gia and recognizing1 February 28, 2025, as Emergency Medical Services Recognition Day at the state capitol; and2 for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Georgia's emergency medical services (EMS) system is celebrating its 49th year4 of service; and5 WHEREAS, the emergency medical services professionals of Georgia respond to almost one6 million calls for assistance annually, risking their lives on a daily basis to go to the aid of7 those in need; and8 WHEREAS, in the State of Georgia, there are more than 26,000 licensed emergency medical9 services personnel who provide the essential life-saving servic es associated with10 out-of-hospital emergency medical care; and11 WHEREAS, the goals and services of each of these individuals in clude illness and injury12 prevention; trauma system development; public information and education; prompt, efficient,13 and effective delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care; transportation to the most14 S. R. 264 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3149 appropriate receiving facility; and other activities related to the health and well-being of the15 citizens of Georgia; and16 WHEREAS, EMS personnel provide access to quality pre-hospital e mergency care that17 dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of persons stricken with sudden illness18 or injury.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 commend the emergency medical services professionals of Georgia for their outstanding and21 courageous service to this state and recognize February 28, 202 5, as Emergency Medical22 Services Recognition Day at the state capitol.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for dis tribution to Chad Black,25 Chairman of the Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association, and Michael Johnson,26 Director of the Georgia Office of Emergency Medical Services an d Trauma of the27 Department of Public Health.28 S.
