25 LC 112 3165 Senate Resolution 307 By: Senators Halpern of the 39th, Orrock of the 36th, Kemp of t he 38th, McLaurin of the 14th and Esteves of the 35th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Camille Russell Love; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Camille Russell Love has diligently served as the executive director of the City2 of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs since 1998, guidi ng the cultural and artistic3 vision of the Chastain Arts Center and Gallery, the City's Publ ic Art Program, Gallery 72,4 Elevate, Contracts for Arts Services, the Cultural Experience Project, and the Atlanta Jazz5 Festival; and6 WHEREAS, under her leadership, the Atlanta Jazz Festival has remained one of the nation's7 preeminent free jazz festivals, providing world-class cultural programming and enriching the8 artistic landscape of Atlanta; and9 WHEREAS, she has further served on the boards of the Metropolit an Atlanta Arts Fund,10 APEX Museum, Piedmont Park Conservancy, and the National Black Arts Festival as well11 as contributed to the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation National Selection Committee and the12 1996 Cultural Olympiad Committee; and13 WHEREAS, throughout her career, she has received accolades from numerous local,14 national, and international entities for her contributions to a rts and culture, including the15 S. R. 307 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3165 Inspired Cultural Excellence Award from Omega Media in 2002, th e Community Impact16 Award from Living the Dream in 2007, and the distinction of Chevalier of the Order of Arts17 and Letters from the French Minister of Culture and Communication in 2017; and18 WHEREAS, Camille Russell Love has served with honor and distinction, and her vision and19 unyielding commitment to the arts will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement;20 and21 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this22 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24 recognize and commend Camille Russell Love for her decades of l eadership in the arts,25 congratulate her on the occasion of her retirement, and extend best wishes for continued26 success and happiness.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Camille Russell29 Love.30 S.
